April:

Goodwood members meeting

We’re delighted to reveal the dates of next year’s Members’ Meeting – our tenth since the event was re-started in 2014 – as Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April 2024.

Next year’s season opener promises to be another action-packed weekend of dramatic racing, spectacular demos, fun for all the family and thrills all round. We can’t reveal too much just yet, but planning is in full swing to make the races even more exciting, the demos even more jaw-dropping and the whole weekend even more of an epic experience for everyone.

May 2024:

Donington Historic Festival (4/5 May, 2024)

Attracting the finest vintage cars out on track – some more than 100 years old – the ‘Mad Jack’ for Pre-War Sports Cars, which will see behemoth Bentleys wheel-to-wheel with powerful Bugattis, Aston Martins and Frazer-Nashes and giant-killing Morgans in a grid which echoes the very earliest days of racing at Donington Park.

Sportscar and GT speed and glamour is showcased in a number of races across the Festival weekend. The combined grid for the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy for pre-56 sportscars and Stirling Moss Trophy for pre-61 sports racers brings some of the most beautiful machines in motorsport history to Donington’s sweeping curves.  Expect to see Jaguar D-types and Maserati 250S, Lotus XI and XVs, Lister Jaguar Knobblies, Lola Mk 1s, Austin-Healey 100Ms and Cooper T39 Bobtails.

The epic, three-hour Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup features pre-’66 GT and Touring Cars, with categories for pre-’63GTs and pre ‘61 Sports Cars. With its unique format, including ‘in pit’ refuelling, this has become firmly established as a true challenge in historic racing, as everything from Jaguar E-types, Shelby Daytona Cobras, TVR Griffiths and Granturas battle it out with Lotus Elans, Ginetta G4s and MGBs.

The Superformance Ferrari Club Classic – the only classic Ferrari racing series in the world – returns to the Donington Historic Festival in 2024 for more wheel-to-wheel action and promises to provide thrills aplenty in three races across the weekend. Expect close racing across several classes for road-legal and modified Ferraris up to the era of the 355 Challenge, including 308, 328, 348, 355, 456, 550, Mondial and more!

Earlybird ticket prices start at just £23 for a one-day adult (16+) entry, with discounts for teens aged 13-15. Under 13s are admitted for free. For further information and to secure those Earlybird tickets please visit www.doningtonhistoric.com.

AUGUST 2024:

LOMBARD RALLY FESTIVAL CRAUFURDLAND CASTLE – A FANTASTIC
NEW EVENT AT THE CASTLE, KILMARNOCK ON AUGUST 31st AND
SEPTEMBER 1st 2024. THE FIRST OF THE LOMBARD RALLY SERIES OF
HISTORIC CAR EVENTS TO TAKE PLACE IN SCOTLAND

They are too valuable to be rallied, fall outside current regulations in the UK
or their owners do not want to damage them due to difficulties in
obtaining replacement parts. We bring the cars to a venue, set it up in
the style of a period rally stage and the drivers demonstrate the cars
under controlled conditions.

Our events are not timed or driven competitively, running now since 2018. The events recall a period when the Lombard RAC Rally which ran all around the UK was the largest
attended sporting event in the UK. More people came out to watch
over its November weekend than watched every football league match
added together during the season. Look out for cars from the 1960s
such as Minis, Ford Anglias and Cortinas, Hillman Imps, from the 1970s
such as Ford Escorts, Hillman Avengers, Vauxhall Chevettes, from the
1980s such as Ford Sierras, Talbot Sunbeams and Opel Mantas, plus
Escort Cosworths and Subarus from the 1990s.

At Craufurdland Castle, on the edge of Kilmarnock a selection of historic
rally cars will be demonstrated on a route with mixed surface, some
gravel and some tarmac. We will be bringing hero champion rally
drivers from the past from both Scandinavia and Scotland to
Kilmarnock to both drive cars reproducing their competitive period and
to tell some stories about their rallying exploits.

On Saturday evening the drivers will attend a social event at the Laird’s
Table near the Castle to tell tales of winning rallies, dragging cars to the
finish of rallies that really should not have got there and much more.
Static displays of sports and classic cars will sit opposite the Castle, with
catering and other stalls also in place.

Early Bird Reduced Price Tickets to Lombard Rally Festival Craufurdland
Castle are now on sale, giving entry and parking for a car and four
occupants at £40.00 – a large discount from the individual ticket prices
which will go on sale in the Spring. There are only a limited number of
these tickets available and they come with an extra benefit –
purchasers of the Early Bird tickets will go into a draw and the lucky
winner will get a ride on the Rally Stage with one of our Star Drivers!
That is definitely not to be missed.

Our other events are
