Haggerty Drivers Club

I once had the privilege of working with a tech entrprenuer who had a disruptive influence on the way we use the internet today. There were two principles that he left me with. That advertisers should pay for a service, not the subscriber and a subscription service provides a solid basis for regular income. In the automotive world, drivers clubs are a way of providing members with added value for a small monthly/annual charge.

Hagerty is changing the UK enthusiast sector with a number of new approach initiatives including its open-door Bicester Heritage Clubhouse, events such as RADwood and Festival of the Unexceptional. It has now it announced the launch of the Hagerty Drivers Club (HDC) in the UK.

Hagerty has vast experience in enthusiast-led clubs having launched the US version of the HDC in 2018, now with over 830,000 members it is the largest community of car enthusiasts in the world. Those members have not only enjoyed countless member benefits, but they have also, by taking advantage of exclusive club offers, saved $millions collectively on purchases and experiences.

Hagerty Drivers Club UK has been designed for all types of car enthusiasts, regardless of marque preference, member age, vehicle ownership, demographic or driving style. It has been designed, over a number of years, to ensure every enthusiast will enjoy a wide range of relevant, enjoyable and accessible experiences and offers, even if they do not yet own a classic car. The unique benefits of HDC, not found in any other membership offer within the sector, include:

  • A dedicated Hagerty Drivers Club rewards program
  • A carefully curated selection of exciting and wide-ranging discounts and offers
  • Members can ask questions of Hagerty’s industry experts in a range of ways
  • A genuinely newsstand quality members magazine, published by Hagerty every quarter

HDC rewards programme is a unique offering within the classic car industry, tracking member interactions in exchange for rewards – an interaction includes attending a Hagerty event, engaging with member benefits, or attending one of the HDC quarterly webinars. Earned rewards can then be exchanged for promoted benefits, providing even more value to the member.

Member benefits have been carefully curated to appeal to all types of demographic profiles and offer wide a range of relevant benefits from motoring and lifestyle partner brands. This approach allows members to enjoy discounted lifestyle experiences with their family and friends, as well as enjoying benefits directly related to their love of classic cars, adding greater value to the member, and giving more reasons to join.

HDC members will also enjoy the unique opportunity to engage with Hagerty’s team of industry experts in a number of interactive ways. The most innovative of these being a live ask the expert online forum for live Q&A sessions about the market, car valuations, driving matters and general enthusiast conversation.

Members will also enjoy a high-quality HDC Magazine published exclusively for the UK market, packed with intelligent articles, great photography and more exclusive member benefits.

To join HDC in the UK interested enthusiasts should visit the Hagerty Drivers Club website.

  1. In the spirit of “The advertiser should pay for the service, not the Subscriber” why does Hagerty charge such huge sums for its events???
Since Hagerty events are essentially promotion for your services, and can be offset, why does Hagerty charge anything at all. Too many players are moving into the Classic Car Show business and ripping people off. £35 for FOTU was outrageous. Hagerty should be ashamed.

    1. That’s a fair comment. Without looking at the accounts it would be hard to say whether the events should be less. I would say that if the income exceeds the outgoings then it’s too much. After all their aim is to promote their insurance services. What we call a self funded promotion. On the subscription service, I come across a lot and haven’t joined any. But the key is, does the subscription offer more value than the cost. Only you can judge. Thanks for commenting.
