I love hearing about interesting barn finds and when it’s a classic French motor it’s extra special.
Earlier this year, Citroen restoration specialists CQS Classics were called in to recover a 1971 DS21 Pallas that had been gathering dust for over 20 years.
It seems that following the death of the car’s owner, the family placed the DS in storage, hoping one day to bring the DS back to life again.
These were special cars. The DS Pallas was launched in 1965 – 10 years on from the launch of the DS model – as a luxury trim version of the DS range. The Pallas would share the same inline-four cylinder engines as the other DS variants.
Entering the barn, the Belgium-based restorers were amazing to discover this seventies DS in fabulous condition, but for a coating of dust. One of their first tasks was to give it a good wash.
Under the bonnet, the car’s mechanics were given a professional overhaul using parts supplied by local specialists, Citroparts.
The black paintwork may have lost a bit of shine but the car’s body was rust-free and there was no evidence of damage. Both the 2.2 litre engine and interior fittings were untouched.
