As a one time VW owner one of my ‘bucket list’ destinations is the amazing Autostadt in Wolfsburg.
The Autostadt covers a 28-hectare site next to the company’s car factory and doubles as the delivery centre for VW motors as well as a stunning celebration of the 86-year-old car maker.
It’s almost a theme park with two high-rise glass towers storing hundreds of new cars, an all-terrain test track and smart hotels, restaurants and shops within landscaped grounds.
The Autostadt is certainly a cool place to pick up your brand new Volkswagen.
Another ‘must see’ attractions is the ZeitHaus motor museum covering five floors. It tells the story of 130-years of automobile history featuring classic VWs alongside iconic other makes such as Bentley, Bugatti and the millionth Mini from 1965.
Together, the Autostadt and ZeitHaus attract over two million visitors a year.
Wolfsburg is also home to the AutoMuseum Volkswagen, opened in 1985. It displays around 135 VW cars, ranging from the earliest VW Beetles to the very collectible Combi vans and rare concept cars.
